Question #1 How does the propane tank exchange work?
Answer #1 The propane tank exchange is a very simple process. Simply disconnect your 20 lb. BBQ propane tank from your propane appliance and leave it outside in a visible and easily accessible place. On your scheduled delivery day, OC Propane will come and replace your empty 20 lb. BBQ propane tank with a full 20 lb. BBQ propane tank.
Question #2 Do I have to be home when OC Propane delivers and exchanges my propane tank?
Answer #2 You do not have to be home when OC Propane delivers your propane tank. All you have to do is make sure the propane tank is outside and accessible and OC Propane will do the rest!
Question #3 What if I do not disconnect my empty propane tank from my propane appliance? Will OC Propane still exchange my empty propane tank?
Answer #3 Absolutely! OC Propane offers a disconnect/reconnect service for a nominal fee. With the disconnect/reconnect service, OC Propane will disconnect your empty 20 lb. BBQ tank from your propane appliance. OC Propane will then reconnect a full 20 lb. BBQ tank to your propane appliance.
Question #4 What condition are the propane tanks in that OC Propane delivers and exchanges for my propane tank?
Answer #4 OC Propane understands that your home is a valuable asset and you want your home to look as visually appeasing as possible. All propane tanks in which OC Propane delivers are rigorously tested with our 5 point safety check. OC Propane uses rust free, up-to-date, pressure tested propane tanks. OC Propane pressure washes every tank to make them look as new as possible. Nobody wants an old rusty propane tank sitting under their grill. OC Propane understands this and accommodates the customer as much as possible.
Question #5 What is an OPD valve?
Answer #5 OPD is short for “Overfill Prevention Device”. In the past, propane tanks which were not equipped with an OPD valve were easily overfilled, resulting in hazardous grilling conditions. Up-to-date tanks which are equipped with an OPD valve are impossible to overfill, resulting in a much safer grilling environment. It is now a Federal law that all 20 lb. BBQ propane tanks are equipped with an OPD valve. Any tanks that are not equipped with an OPD valve are out-of-date, obsolete and cannot be re-filled.
Question #6 How do I know if my tank has an OPD valve?
Answer #6 There are several ways to see if your tank is equipped with an OPD valve. The easiest way is to look at the top of the valve, if it has a triangular hand wheel shape and has OPD imprinted in it, it is an OPD valve. Also, the sticker decal on the fromt of the tank may indicate “OPD Equipped”. If you are not sure, please click on the following link for more information.
